It is with great sadness that we have to inform you, our members, that Irene Cheer of Cottingham, Yorkshire, has sadly passed away at the age of 73.
Irene, famed for her use of a bowls arm, was an active member of EALABA for many years, she was an excellent bowler winning medals all around the world.
Irene won Gold in the Paralympic in Atlanta, USA, 1996, and Gold in the World Championships in Adelaide, Australia, and attending many World Championships over the years.
She opened the new Hornsea Indoor Bowls Club in Hull as reigning Paralympic Gold medallist.
Irene will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
