During the last 10 days, England DBE squads have won 2 Championships with EALABA bowlers help.
First came the PD and VI team playing the Home Nations Championship against Wales and Scotland at the Newport Indoor Bowls Club. Part of the squad included a number of EALABA bowlers:- David Fisher, Steve Angus, Joe Peplow and John Greaves who won his first cap.
The 2024 Championship is being held in Wales again, this is due to the rotation of countries being interrupted by Covid lockdowns.
Hot on the heels of the PD/VI squad came the Learning Disabilities Indoor Bowls International Series Championship better know as the Munro Cup or Friendship Cup. This tournament was played in England at the York and District Indoor Bowls Club.
Once again, EALABA players represented their country:- Chris Gray, Harry Atkin and Sally Darby (new EALABA member and winning her first cap). Also, supporting the England squad in a coaching capacity were Alice Atkin, Steve Angus, Diane and John Rogers.
From the off, England dominated during every session of the two days, resulting in a dominating win including a massive shot difference.
